Tabo
Tabo is home to one of the oldest continuously operating Buddhist monasteries in the Himalayas, founded over a thousand years ago and often called the Ajanta of the Himalayas for its centuries-old murals and sculptures. The town itself is modest and unassuming, sitting quietly on the valley floor along the Kinnaur-to-Kaza road. For many travelers, Tabo's monastery is the most historically significant stop on the entire Spiti circuit.
